Around 1820. In a carved alabaster case with a carved figure of "Prudentia," symbolizing virtue. (In ancient Latin, "prudentia" was known as one of the virtues and was often depicted allegorically holding a mirror and a snake.) Viennese type, quarter striking on spiral gong, date display, movement cleaned by a clockmaker, in working order. Fire-gilded guilloché dial center with enamel chapter ring with Arabic numerals. The case has fire-gilded bronze appliqués. Beautiful condition.
