Alabaster empire clock with Marcus Aurelius ancient pride: c. 1800. Carved alabaster case with thickly fire-gilt bronze appliqués. Viennese, spring-wire quarter gong striking, date indicating, watchmaker's cleaned, working, escapement chain with lever mechanism. Enamel dial ring with Arabic numerals, date circle, dial marked " J. Straub in Wien" (master craftsman of outstanding quality). Movement power reserve of approx. 1-1,5 days. Enamel dial with slight defects.
