Empire sitting set with table: c. 1810. Hungary. Pear wood veneer in pine wood base, ink-painted empire marks, other parts with blackened surface treatment. Foil-gildid and green painted, carved limewood with caryatids and lion’s paw. Table with folding top and wrought iron latch. Upholstery changed to English silk, structure and surface treatment qualitatively restored previously. Identical twin sitting set is in the Janus Panonius Museum in Pécs, Hungary. Very special museum piece.
